Bangladesh team has lowest average age. PCB jealous

I have often been a fan of Pakistan cricket. I guess they are not a hard team to like. They've always been a side just brimming with talent. They have their own flamboyant style. And every once in a while they put in an amazing performance that seems to make everyone happy.

In other words, Pakistan is like a drag queen.

It's fun watching them from a distance, but you know it would be a different story up close. The matchfixing fiascoes, ball tampering stunts, player power kerfuffles and Shoaib Akhtar make you glad that Pakistan aren't your national team. Beneath the colourful, seemingly exciting exterior, lies a five o clock shadow and a shabbily concealed penis.

A penis that emerged from its sheath yesterday to lay the smack down on several players. Opinion has been divided as to whether this is a good move. It definitely more than fulfils the 'crazy' quota that Pakistan cricket are obliged to do, as a service to the inernational cricket community who must be entertained.

I'm just not so sure about their timing though. Just in the last month or so, there was Afridi's ball biting thing. On top of that, Micheal Clarke has just surprised us all with a wonderful case of cricket hilarity concocted, amazingly, in Australia. The PCB could have waited at least a few months before treating us to another entertaining display. But they generously chose to spoil us instead.

Awwwwwww. You guys...

  2. Ahhh, Pakistani cricket. Home of the second-worst job on the planet - Test Captain. (The worst job, of course, is Coach if the Indian Test team).

I'm Australian, btw, so you can ban me right now if you like. But that also allows me a closer view of what happened here this summer.

Mohammed Yousuf was a rock during the test series. Yousuf Youhana impressed me as a young batsman, but the later incarnation as captain showed a maturity and steadiness that's been absent since Imran Khan departed the scene. Given the cattle he was provided, the team performed remarkably well. The 0-3 (VERY nearly 1-2) series result will never show how well he guided his mob.

Younis Khan was missing from the test series, but by the time he arrived Yusuf was well and truly stuffed. I never saw any conflict, but I can say that if both of them were playing in the Sydney test they would have won.

I have absolutely no idea why Naved copped his ban. Perhaps for scowling at Afridi after the ball-biting incident. Who knows.

Umar sticking up for Kamran. Maybe a month or a tour out. But a year? This is their best young batsman since Inzamam. And by far their best keeper.

If Pakistan were an opposing footy (or rugby) team you'd call them the gift that keeps on giving. They aren't, though. I can find reasons for hating any (genuine) cricketing opponent, but not for Pakistan.

They try so hard that it is sad.
